What Is Dahua Smart Dual Light?
Smart Dual Light is an AI-driven Dahua feature for intelligent camera illumination control in low-light conditions. Based on a smart algorithm, the system accurately detects relevant targets and automatically switches between infrared and warm light according to the situation. By default, the camera operates with IR illumination at night, while warm light is activated automatically when target activity is detected so that relevant events can be recorded in color. As soon as the target leaves the monitored area, the system switches back to IR illumination, helping reduce unnecessary light emission.
Smart Dual Light includes several illumination modes for different operating conditions and enables situation-based lighting control within the monitored area:
- Smart Illumination (default mode): automatic switching between IR illumination and warm light as soon as a relevant target is detected, enabling relevant events to be recorded in color.
- IR Mode (optional): continuous use of infrared illumination without activation of warm light, suitable for applications where visible lighting is not required and light emissions should be minimized.
- Warm Light Mode (optional): continuous activation of warm light for ongoing color image capture, particularly in scenarios with increased requirements for visual detail.
What Practical Benefits Does Dahua Smart Dual Light Offer?
In practical use, Smart Dual Light enables flexible control of camera illumination, as switching between IR illumination and warm light can be triggered automatically by events or defined on a time schedule. This makes it possible to capture targeted color footage with a high level of detail during relevant security incidents without keeping warm light activated continuously. In retail applications, the system can switch automatically to Smart Illumination outside business hours, allowing intrusion events to be recorded in color while keeping light emissions low during normal operation. In low-traffic outdoor areas such as courtyards or parks, warm light can be activated when relevant target activity is detected, enabling effective surveillance while minimizing light disturbance to the surrounding area. At the same time, this improves the visibility of people and vehicles in dark scenes and provides a more reliable basis for assessing and reviewing security-relevant incidents.
